Miroslav Lajčák to discuss situation in Crimea at Foreign Affairs Council with his Ukrainian counterpart

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák is participating at the regular Foreign Affairs Council which takes place in Brussels today, on Monday 17th March. Main topic of the Council is the situation in Ukraine particularly Crimea, following the results of the Crimean referendum, which was held on Sunday.

The ministers exchange views on possibilities of further political and financial support for Ukraine as well other EU activities in the Eastern Partnership primarily focusing on strengthening of the cooperation with Moldova and Georgia. Prior to the FAC session Minister Miroslav Lajčák co-organize jointly with his Swedish colleague Carl Bildt an informal meeting of the “Friends of Ukraine” with the participation of the EU Foreign Ministers and acting Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Deshchytsia. Prior to this meeting Mr. Deshchytsia will hold separate bilateral discussions with Minister Miroslav Lajčák.
