The National Football Stadium more expensive by €23 mln

The Cabinet approved an appendix to the future purchase contract that will increase the contractual price of the National Football Stadium to €98.44 million. The increase results from additional construction costs to meet the Union of European Football Association's (UEFA) security standards, and an audit of cost eligibility that was carried out for the Education, Science, Research and Sports Ministry by consulting company KPMG. The current sum is over €23 million higher than the ceiling agreed on in the future purchase contract. The Sports Minister Martina Lubyová (Slovak National Party/SNS) noted that approving the increased purchase price did not necessarily mean that it would be automatically paid, explaining that the European Commission (EC), the Slovak Anti-monopoly Office as well as the Public Procurement Office (UVO) would all have to approve the entire process.
