Coronavirus not in Slovakia, country takes measures

In reaction to the coronavirus, which has not spread to Slovakia, the country's main hygienist Ján Mikas has issued guidelines for health institutions with methodical procedures to implement in the event of a suspected infection with the virus. Bratislava airport should carry out training to handle risks related to the spread of the disease and test the procedures too. Moreover, a special call centre is also set to open.

According to the TASR press agency, Slovakia is now cooperating with German laboratories on detecting the virus. As of next week, the Slovak state laboratory should be able to detect the virus on its own thanks to a new machine, after the Health Ministry earmarked €400,000 for its purchase. Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini called on people not to panic as many influenza diseases occur at this time of year.
