President on Holocaust in Israel

The Holocaust is not a Jewish tragedy, it's a tragedy for all of us, Slovak President Zuzana Caputova stated on Thursday during her visit to Israel. She participated in the formal ceremony of the World Holocaust Forum taking place in Yad Vashem Museum commemorating the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. According to the Slovak president, racially motivated violence always begins with words and that is why we need to be cautious and sensitive to hate speech and manifestations of discrimination. She noted that guilt can be forgiven as well as regretted, however, the same does not hold true for responsibility. During the commemorative event, Caputova met Britain's Prince Charles as well as French President Emmanuel Macron and invited both of them to Slovakia. The forum is being attended by delegations from 49 countries. Caputova was set to meet Israeli President Reuven Rivlin on Friday. She will also visit Jerusalem's sacred places.
