On Wednesday, the Slovak president Zuzana Čaputová met with Police Corps President Milan Lučanský and Prosecutor General Jaromír Čižnár to ask about the recent situation around charges pressed against former prosecutor-general Dobroslav Trnka and their dropping within a few days. According to Čaputová, the chaotic situation is the result of insufficient co-ordination between the police and the prosecutor's office. The two officials assured the president that procedures regarding all the suspicions were continuing and that they were being investigated. Last week the National Crime Agency arrested the former prosecutor-general Trnka in his house. Dobroslav Trnka was allegedly charged for covering up shady transactions with state lottery money in 2009. A special prosecutor ordered the release of Trnka the day after his arrest. The charge itself was dropped on January 21.
