The registered unemployment rate in Slovakia stood at 4.92% in December 2019, remaining unchanged month-on-month and dropping by 0.12 percentage points (p.p.) year-on-year, according to the latest data released by the Labour, Social Affairs and Family Centre (UPSVaR). The number of job-seekers immediately able to start work increased by 10% month on month (135,517), falling by 1.94% year-on-year.
The unemployment rate calculated from the total number of jobseekers reached 6.01% in December last year, remaining unchanged in a month-on-month comparison and going down by 0.18% y-o-y.
Four regions recorded a decrease in the unemployment rate in December, with the highest drop being posted in the Banská Bystrica and Prešov regions. Meanwhile, four regions posted a growth in unemployment in monthly terms.
