Latest survey shows far right on the rise

The strongest ruling party SMER-SD would win the parliamentary elections in early January on 18.7 percent of the vote. The far right Kotlebovci-LSNS would come second on 13.6 percent. The third coalition of Progressive Slovakia and Together garnered 10.5 percent. The last survey by pollster Focus on January 10 - 14 on a sample of 1,010 respondents ordered by PS/Together also shows that the next party would be For the People party of Andrej Kiska that won 10.3 percent followed by OLANO - NOVA - KU- Change from the Bottom Up (7.7 percent), Boris Kollar's We Are Family (7.1 percent), the Christian-Democratic Movement (6 percent), the Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party (5.4 percent), and the Slovak National Party (5.1 percent). The co-ruling MOST-HID would not get into Parliament, as only 4 percent of decided respondents would vote for it. Losers in the race would be also the Hungarian Community Solidarity (3.7 percent), Good Choice (3.3 percent) and the party Homeland of former president and judge of the Supreme Court Stefan Harabin on 2.3 percent. 77.8 percent of decided respondents would go to the polls, according to the Focus survey.
