Government blocks Penta's assets

The Slovak government has blocked the assets of the Penta financial group, informed the press department of the Government's Office. "The Slovak Republic has adopted precautionary measures to secure its claims concerning court costs in a lawsuit filed by the only shareholder of the Slovak private health insurer Dovera," the press department explained. Under the decision of the Dutch court, the government blocked a sum of 15,647,000 euros in the accounts administered by Dutch banks. The press department of the Government's Office informed in July 2019 that the District Court Bratislava I had dismissed the suit filed by HICEE B.V., the only shareholder of the health insurer Dovera, against the Slovak Republic. The company claimed 200 million euros in compensation for the profit ban on health insurance companies. "The Slovak Republic has faced several litigations over the adoption of a non-profit amendment in national courts and international arbitrations. The Slovak Republic has so far been successful in these disputes and has not been obliged to use the public funds to pay to the counterparties," the press department added. "The decision by the court is not final since we have appealed against the judgement," responded the PR department of Penta investments.
