In its official statement released on Wednesday, the Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Ministry perceives the current situation in Iraq and the Middle East as dangerous and supports calls for restraint and the end to escalation. In this context, the foreign ministry urges all involved countries to embrace diplomatic dialogue when addressing the complex situation not only in Iraq but in the broader Middle East region. "The foreign ministry condemns any violation of international law, particularly the UN charter, which forms the foundation of international security and calls upon all actors to comply with the norms of international law, including the international humanitarian law," reads the press statement. The foreign ministry also emphasised Slovakia's readiness to actively participate and aid the Iraqi Government in stabilising its country and training its security forces.
