Municipalities to have more say in euro funds management

From the year 2021 onwards, it will be local governments that allocate EU regional development funds. This stems from a memorandum of cooperation signed by the Deputy Prime Minister's Office for Investment and Informatisation, along with representatives of the Association of Towns and Municipalities of Slovakia and the Association of Self-Governing Regions SK8. These should concern the EU programming period of 2021-2027. Local governments will be doing the allocation on the basis of integrated territorial strategies, which will include a list of project plans. The individual ministries will oversee that the whole process is in line with both European and national legislation. The state will also provide the technical support connected with the preparation of projects.
