The culminating campaign ahead of the first round of the presidential election has been rather dull and lacking in content, but also standard, say political analysts. “At any rate, this has been a stale version of what usually goes on abroad,” stated analyst Jan Baránek. Slovak Academy of Sciences analyst Juraj Marušiak added that he's noticed a lack of clearer ideas from the candidates of what they'd do if elected president.
Fellow analyst Grigorij Mesežnikov called the campaign standard adding that some of the 14 candidates have done a decent job in their campaigns and only the first round will show if they were successful. As of today, the presidential election's moratorium started, meaning the candidates are no longer allowed to campaign for themselves and the media have to refrain from any information about the candidates as well. The direct vote of the President will take place on Saturday 15 March and it is highly probable that no candidate will be able to pass the 50 percent threshold to be elected into the position and therefore a second round of the election, two weeks later is expected.
