No increase in gas prices for households as of January

Gas price for households will not increase in the first half of next year. This stems from an Economy Ministry proposal approved by the Cabinet at its final session of the year on Wednesday. The state will make use of its status as sole shareholder in the gas utility and order the board of directors not to use the ceiling gas price for households in the 2019/2020 heating season set at 4.94 percent by the Office for the Regulation of Network Industries. The gas price freeze only applies to Slovak gas utility (SPP) customers and only concerns the 2019/2020 heating season, which will last until the end of May 2020.
