The average temperature in Slovakia's capital Bratislava has risen by 2°C due to climate change, said the city's deputy Mayor Tatiana Kratochvílová. She stressed the municipality's intention for Bratislava to become sustainable. According to her, the implementation of measures which stem from strategic materials is not always easy, but not even always expensive. Sometimes it is only about introducing measures which are not popular and pleasant. Kratochvílová said that together with the Metropolitan Institute of Bratislava, the municipality is preparing the program Greenery on every street. It includes a concept for both Danube river banks, and creating an inventory of trees and a plan for their maintenance and planting. She said that sometimes engineering networks do not allow tree planting. As one of the Bratislava's environmental problems, Kratochvílová named neglected groundwater monitoring.
