The European Commission presented on Wednesday the European Green Deal - a roadmap for making the European economy sustainable and climate-neutral by 2050. According to the commission's president, Ursula von der Leyen, this document is the EU's new growth strategy. Maroš Šefčovič, Commissioner for Interinstitutional Relations and Foresight, sees this document as "the biggest project of this generation", comparable to man's landing on the Moon. On Wednesday, Šefčovič added that the deal would also have a big impact on the European industry and economy. Even though the European Commission presented the deal, the European Council and the European Parliament will amend and approve itsindividual measures. Slovak representatives in these institutions see the new European climate plan differently. The biggest criticism of the deal comes from MEP Michal Wiezik, member of the Environment Committee, who claims the document lacks a greater emphasis on the protection of ecosystems and thinks overall that the document is not concrete enough.
