In early December, Slovakia became a full member of the European University Institute. The European University Institute is an international academic institution providing doctoral and post-doctoral studies and conducts research on European affairs in four departments - economics, history and civilization, law, as well as political and social sciences. The president of the EUI, Renaud Dehousse, expressed his satisfaction about Slovakia's membership in the EUI, noting that Slovakia's accession is one more step in the Institute's ongoing commitment to making it a hub of academic excellence, and home to researchers from all over the continent. So far, 24 Member States of the European Union, including Slovakia, have joined the Institute.
