The City of Bratislava will send Prešov financial aid to the amount of €20,000 in order to help the people who were affected by the recent gas explosion in an apartment block. Bratislava mayor Matúš Vallo will also consider scrapping New Year's Eve fireworks and send the saved money as a financial donation directly to the affected people, as several Slovak cities have already decided to do so. In Banská Bystrica, the town council decided to scrap the New Year's Eve cultural program and fireworks and to send the saved money to Prešov. Peter Bročka, mayor of Trnava, has offered several smaller newly reconstructed flats to shelter the Prešov families, who lost their homes, and provide place in schools or day-cares for the children. Slovaks are also donating to the bank account set up by the town of Prešov.
