Almost 90% of Slovak entrepreneurs think corruption is widespread

Almost nine out of ten Slovak entrepreneurs consider corruption in Slovakia to be widespread, according to a Eurobarometer survey conducted on a sample of 301 Slovak entrepreneurs. More than half of the respondents believe that corruption in Slovakia has prevented them from winning a public contract and do not believe that companies or people involved in such practices will be investigated by the police or end up in court. According to the survey, 11 percent of Slovaks have had personal experience with corruption, which is twice the average for European entrepreneurs. Only a quarter of Slovaks think that such people will be reported or caught by the police or prosecutor's office, nearly as low as half the EU average (44 percent).
