Parliament did not vote on return of gold from UK

Parliament did not decide on a draft resolution on the return of investment gold from the UK to Slovakia as Parliament was not quorate. The vote on the resolution will be thus held at the next regular session, which, according to Parliamentary Chair Andrej Danko, "may be convened" as it does not have to be because of the upcoming parliamentary election. The extraordinary session was initiated by senior coalition member Smer-SD. By adopting the respective resolution, its MPs wanted to commit Slovakia's central bank (NBS) to initiate the return of 31.7 tonnes of Slovak gold worth almost €1.3 billion, deposited at the Bank of England because of an expected financial crisis, the upcoming Brexit and the decision by many countries to withdraw their own gold from the Bank of England. In the last decade, cooperation with the Bank of England in gold trading netted the NBS some €50 million.
