Bratislava to receive financial aid

On Wednesday, the Cabinet decided at its away from home session that it will allocate €15.1 million for the capital, Bratislava. At the same time, the Government remitted a financial loan of €10 million that Bratislava had obtained from the state in 2014 and 2015. Slovak Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini proposed that the city should feature as a special category in the 2020 public administration budget so that it can finance meeting its tasks as the capital. According to Bratislava's mayor Matúš Vallo, this sum will not solve the city's long lasting problems. "It is not even a sum, which would cover the income cut caused by numerous laws adopted in the past. Just last year, the cuts from the city's incomes represented €12 million. Out of this amount, €4 million represent cuts in the budgets of the city's boroughs," said Vallo.
