More than a billion people live in the area covered by the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), however not all of them live in safety and not all of them have access to basic needs. This according to Slovak Foreign Affairs Minister and OSCE acting chair Miroslav Lajčák, who was speaking at the Berlin Security Conference on Tuesday. Lajčák was one of two main speakers to address participants at the beginning of the conference, aiming his speech at the current security situation in the OSCE region. Highlighting the important role the OSCE plays within the various countries that fall under its purview, the Slovak minister also described the course and results of the Slovak OSCE presidency that will culminate in the meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council due to take place in Bratislava on the 5th and 6th of December.
