The Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) is trying to prevent the spread of disinformation regarding the death of journalist Ján Kuciak. The Slovak police provided the OCCRP with 57 terabytes of data from the investigation to the case. Their archive should serve as a trusted public repository that will confirm true claims and disprove misinformation and lies regarding the investigation. In coming months, the centre intends to make it available to responsible media outlets that meet the highest ethical and journalistic standards and work in the public interest. OCCRP also considers it to be possible that, in the run-up to next year's general election, corrupt media outlets will falsely claim to have access to the police investigation. Ján Kuciak was an investigative journalist working for the news website aktuality.sk. He and his fiancée Martina Kušnírová were murdered in their house at Velká Mača (Trnava region) on February 21, 2018.
