The Slovak police faces criticism because it reported the case of the murder of Viola Macáková one week after her death. 34-year-old English teacher Viola died on November 11 after being raped and beaten to death near the port of Bratislava. However, the police only confirmed the murder on Tuesday November 19 after the information had spread via multiple media. Police claim that if the public had been in danger, they would have warned about the case and that by not reporting the murder, it was trying to gain an advantage over the perpetrator.
