Bison photo wins student competition at US Embassy

The US embassy in Slovakia on Tuesday declared the winner of a photography competition for Slovak students who travelled this summer to the USA as part of the Summer Work and Travel programme. The winner is fresh graduate Marta Šimková, who took a photo of a bison in Yellowstone National Park. She has actually took part in the programme twice, the first time visiting Hawaii. She noted, however, that she especially took a liking to Yellowstone. This was the eighth such competition. The winner was decided by the public, who voted for 25 finalists on a social network. "What these pictures have in common is love of nature and national parks," stated US Ambassador to Slovakia Bridget Brink. More than 2,600 Slovak students made use of Summer Work and Travel programme in the summer.
