Slovak gas transit company Eustream no longer considers the Nord Stream 2 project a threat. According to Eustream CEO Radislav Ňukovič, after Nord Stream 2 becomes operational a decline in gas transit from Ukraine to Western Europe should be compensated by an increase in gas transit to the South and the East of the continent. "After Nord Stream 2 is finished, transit of gas from Russia directly to Germany will increase. However, this gas should then be transferred to Slovakia crossing the Czech Republic, so it could continue to Austria and Italy," stated Ňukovič.
