On Monday, the Interior Ministry signed a cooperation memorandum with the Central Association of Jewish Religious Communities in Slovakia. The document states that the police will keep an eye on the security of Jewish communities and institutions. "We're all aware that Jewish buildings currently face an increased risk of violent attacks from terrorists, extremists or other potential perpetrators," explained Interior Minister Denisa Saková. She added that this cooperation "isn't only about the improved protection of Jewish communities, it also entails protecting all the citizens of Slovakia, as any of them might be passing by a synagogue at the moment of an attack." The cooperation will be based mainly on assessing current developments in the security situation in Slovakia and other countries in connection with the issue of anti-Semitism.
