The Special Criminal Court in Pezinok ruled on Wednesday to extend the custody of the three persons charged with participating in the murder of journalist Ján Kuciak and his fiancée Martina Kušnírová. Alena Zsuzsová, Tomáš Szabo and alleged shooter Miroslav Marček heard the verdicts announced by the court's senate. According to the prosecutor, there remains a concern that all the accused may thwart the criminal proceedings or influence witnesses and therefore they might remain in custody for at least three years. The trial in connection with Kuciak's murder is to begin in early 2020.
