If soldiers are to put their lives at risk, it should be only if it's necessary to defend Slovakia and its vital interests, said President Zuzana Čaputová at the Petržalka-Kopcany military cemetery in Bratislava, adding that War Veterans Day shouldn't only be about remembering the past, but above all about a commitment to the future. "We must never forget those who were involved in military conflict while serving their homeland. And we must never forget that we must do everything we can to avoid war with all its horrors," said Čaputová.
