Members of the Slovak National Theatre (SND) call on the Government and the state representatives to express clear opposition to the situation in Crimea, TASR learnt from SND PR Manager Branislav Santa on Thursday. The statement released today was signed on behalf of actors by Richard Stanke, Marian Geisberg, Jozef Vajda, Emilia Vášáryová, Maria Breinerova, Tomas Mastalir, Alexander Barta, Vladimir Obsil, Martin Nahalka and Szidi Tobias.
“As direct neighbours of Ukraine, as witnesses of historical moments that went down in history of our country as tragic - the annexation of the Sudetenland in western Czechoslovakia by Munich Agreement, and the annexation of Slovak border territory by Vienna Arbitration in 1938, the occupation of Czechoslovakia by Warsaw Pact troops in 1968, we can't and don't want to agree with Russia's act of aggression and disruption Ukraine's territorial integrity, although we're aware of Crimea's historical and geographical importance in terms of Russian history,” reads to the statement of actors, who expect from the Government a ‘concrete declaration and corresponding actions.’
