Slovak economy driven by domestic demand for first time since 2011

Economic growth was driven by domestic demand along with exports in 4Q of the year 2013 for the first time in more than two years. The biggest share of domestic demand was made up of gross fixed capital formation, i.e. investments.

The second-most important factor was an increase in imports and especially an increase in the import of investment units, added František Bernadič from the Statistics Office. “We expect that economic growth will keep accelerating thanks to the improving external environment, but also due to increased domestic consumption,” stated UniCredit Bank analyst Lubomir Koršňák.
