Martin Declaration: one of first Slovak state-building moves

On 30^th October 1918 in the northern town of Martin, Slovaks founded the Slovak National Council and declared their affinity to the new state, namely the Czechoslovak republic. This was inked within a document known as the so-called Martin Declaration. During her visit to Martin on Tuesday, the Slovak President Zuzana Čaputová praised the historic declaration, calling it "one of the first state-building moves by the Slovak nation".
