Economic Sentiment Indicator up in October

The three-month moving average of the Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) went up by 0.4 points month-on-month in October 2019 to 98.3 points. According to the Slovak Statistics Office. This is mainly due to increases in confidence in construction and partly in services, while it was down in industry and trade, and remained relatively stable among consumers. The consumer climate in Slovakia remained relatively stable in October. Pessimistic expectations of the financial situation in households and the overall economic situation were damped down by optimistic expectations of household savings, while expectations regarding unemployment development remained practically unchanged.
