The special commission at the Judicial Council recommended launching disciplinary proceedings against judges who allegedly communicated with controversial businessman Marián Kočner charged with economic crimes and involvement in the murder of journalist Ján Kuciak. According to Dušan Čimo, the new chair of the special commission, the current proceedings could concern two judges, Miriam Repáková and Zuzana Maruniaková. Repáková, who has already asked to be suspended from being a judge, is suspected of having helped Kočner in one court case. Police have launched an investigation into this matter. Maruniaková, who is on maternity leave, has not so far commented on the situation. The Judicial Council, however, might launch disciplinary proceedings against other judges who allegedly exchanged messages with Kočner, too.
