Top Slovak authorities have joined their Czech counterparts in paying tribute to the 101-year anniversary of the establishment of the first Czechoslovak Republic. In Bratislava, Slovak President Zuzana Caputova laid wreaths at the monuments of the first Czechoslovak President Masaryk and Slovak politician Stefanik, co-founders of the common state. Meanwhile in Prague, Parliamentary Speaker Andrej Danko represented Slovakia at a ceremony granting state orders of the Czech Republic by President Milos Zeman. On October 28, 1918, Austro-Hungarian Foreign Minister Count Andrassy accepted the 14 points set by US President Wilson in order to end WWI. People in Prague took Andrassy's acceptance as the official capitulation of the monarchy. The official consent of Slovak representatives to the self-determination of the Czecho-Slovak nation was given at a general assembly adopting the so called Martin declaration on October 30, 1918.
