House discusses extending as well as reducing moratoriums

Parliament on Monday was due to debate a proposal presented by coalition MPs to extend the moratorium period for opinion polls from the current 14 days to 50 days prior to the day of an election. Conversely, the House will also address a motion aimed at reducing the moratorium to 48 hours before election days, presented by independent MPs Katarina Csefalvayova and Martin Fedor. According to them, moratoriums outside such a span infringe the public's right to be informed. On Sunday, Speaker of Parliament Andrej Danko stated on public RTVS that he would announce the date of the upcoming general election on Monday, 4^th November. As he added, 29^th February 2020 would probably be the day.
