Slovakia and China sign Memorandum on tourism cooperation

Slovakia and China have signed a memorandum on cooperation in the area of tourism, Transport Ministry spokesperson Karolina Ducka informed TASR on Friday. The memorandum was signed in Riga, Latvia on the occasion of the 5th China-Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) 17+1 High-level Tourism Forum, which took place on Wednesday. "We've reached a new level when it comes to exchanging tourists by signing the memorandum. Tourism significantly contributes to the converging of cultures and it's also an important economic sector. I believe that the cooperation will increase the number of tourists in Slovakia, that there will be more Chinese tourists and more overnight stays," noted Transport Minister Arpad Ersek (Most-Hid).According to the ministry, Slovakia was visited by approximately 67,000 Chinese tourists in 2018, making them the seventh most numerous group of visitors to the country when it comes to nationalities.
