Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini (Smer-SD) stated on Tuesday during a check on Slovakia's border with Ukraine that the eastern border is very well protected and thus there is no reason to be concerned about the next wave of illegal migration. "Another ten kilometres of the border will be equipped with state-of-art technologies," added the Prime Minister, pointing at a possible increased pressure from illegal migration in the future given the military operations in Syria. As he underlined, it is important for Slovakia's eastern border to be tight so that "no one will create some new migration route through our country in order to smuggle people in masses into Western Europe." As Interior Minister Denisa Sakova, who was also present at the check, added, she believes the final report on the ongoing third Schengen border evaluation will be positive.
