The Special Prosecutor's Office has pressed extremism-related charges against editor-in-chief of Zem a Vek magazine Tibor Eliot Rostas, reported office's spokesperson Jana Tökölyová on Sunday. The indictment mentions the dissemination of extremist materials in conjunction with inciting national, racial and ethnic hatred and denigrating a nation, race and religious beliefs. In May 2017, Zem a Vek published an article titled "Jewish Wedge Among Slavs", which featured quotes from various historical Slovak figures displaying negative attitudes to the Jewish community. "The historical quotes in question were interpreted in such a way as to create an impression among readers that the Jewish community works to disintegrate the society and their machinations are the reason behind an adverse social situation even in the contemporary era. Through the given statements, the article incites hatred and the impression that there is need to take action against the Jewish community in the Slovak Republic. The article in the Zem a Vek magazine is distributed and sold on Slovak soil and freely available for purchase to anyone," stated Tökölyová.
