More than 20 people sustained injuries after a car collided with a bus on a road connecting the villages of Abramová and Slovenské Pravno (Žilina region) on Tuesday afternoon, spokesman for the Regional Police Corps Directorate in Žilina Radko Moravčík told TASR later in the day. The female driver of a Fiat Punto veered into the path of the oncoming bus for as yet unknown reasons and crashed into the bus.
“The bus went off the road and turned over on its right-hand side”, said Moravčík. “More than 20 people - including the Fiat's driver, the same car's passenger and travellers on the bus - were taken to hospital. The bus driver suffered no injuries and was subject to a breathalyser test, with its reading coming out negative”, added the spokesman. The driver of the car sustained abdominal injuries and was taken by helicopter to University Hospital in the nearby town of Martin.
