Antonino Vadala found guilty in Italy

Antonino Vadala, an Italian entrepreneur with businesses based also in Slovakia, was imprisoned on Thursday in Venice. He was one of 17 suspects who were found guilty of smuggling drugs from South America to Italy. Slovak prosecution extradited Vadala to Italy at the beginning of May following a European arrest warrant. Antonino Vadala was one of the Italians mentioned in slain journalist Ján Kuciak's final investigation as being linked to the mafia and two of former Prime Minister Robert Fico's advisors - Mária Trošková and Viliam Jasaň. The financial administration of the Slovak Republic denied alleged information that Vadala smuggled drugs in fruit with the help of Slovak customs officers.
