The European Investment Bank (EIB) will lend €120 million to Slovakia to finance projects in agriculture and forestry. This loan can be drawn until November 2015. The objective of supported projects should be increasing the quality of agricultural infrastructure in the countryside, reforestation, and better protection of forests.
Since 1993, the European Investment Bank has lent about €4 billion to Slovakia. It was involved in the construction of the Apollo Bridge over the Danube River in Bratislava, construction of new sections of highways and dual carriageways, as well as the modernisation of parts of existing roads, and the construction and modernisation of railway lines and utility networks.
