Annual car show opens in Nitra

A total of 202 exhibitors are presenting themselves at the annual Autosalón car show that was opened at the Agrokomplex exhibition centre in Nitra on Thursday. Exhibitors are displaying 30 car brands, including 35 new models, plus exhibition premieres, contests, tuner cars and vintage vehicles. Autosalón, which will be open until October 6, includes brands that car fans didn't even have a chance to see at the Frankfurt car fair. One million cars are produced each year in Slovakia at the moment, and their number should go up to 1.3 million next year. Automotive production made up 47 percent of Slovakia's total industrial output, while the automotive industry's share of Slovakia's industrial exports is 35 percent. The sector employs 250,000 people directly and indirectly.
