New flight route planned between Košice and London

Low-cost Irish airline Ryanair announced on Wednesday that it will open a new regular route from Kosice airport to London (Stansted) as of April 1, 2020. The new line will operate three times a week as part of the airline's summer flight schedule. Michal Tmej, the executive director and chairman of the board for Košice airport, stated that the current service to London has been very successful and there is still a high potential for growth, as the currently allocated capacity often fails to meet passenger demand. In August, Ryanair announced it was cancelling all flights on the London Southend-Košice route for the 2019/2020 winter schedule, starting at the end of October. The company said that the cancellation was due to the global air transport crisis caused by the grounding of Boeing 737 MAX planes due to safety concerns.
