President to attend V4 summit in Czech Republic

Slovak President Zuzana Čaputová is in the Czech Republic for a two-day summit of the presidents of the Visegrad Four (V4) group (Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland), which started on Wednesday. The Czech host, President Miloš Zeman, welcomed Čaputová, Hungarian President János Áder and Polish President Andrzej Duda at Lany Castle, the summer residence of Czech presidents, in the morning. The presidents of Slovenia and Serbia will join the talks on the second day. High on the agenda for discussion are EU issues, mainly the V4's role in the EU. Also to be discussed are issues such as the multi-annual financial framework of the EU, and the impact of US trade wars on the EU as well as on the global economy. The summit, which is taking place 30 years after the fall of the communist regimes in Central Europe, will also be a symbolic commemoration of the 1989 events.
