Government to determine minimum wage

Government to determine minimum wage

It is now definite that representatives of employers and trade unions have failed to agree on the minimum wage for 2020, so the government will now step in to determine the amount of next year's lowest gross earnings. Labour Minister Jan Richter will submit to the Cabinet his own proposal to increase the gross minimum wage from the current €520 to €580. However, the Cabinet may come up with another figure. The Trade Unions Confederation has called for an increase to €607.80, while employers want to adjust the minimum wage to €552.20. Most employees earning the minimum wage are in the government sector and in public services.
