On Monday, the public hearings of 16 candidates for the posts of Constitutional Court Judges started. Subsequently, the candidates will take part in the fifth two-round election in the Slovak Parliament at its session, which starts on Tuesday. The first election took place in March. It was the MPs' task to elect 18 candidates from which the Slovak President was supposed to chose half. However, due to disagreements within the coalition they failed to do so and so far, they have only elected 14 names. After the last failed round, which was a secret vote, the junior governing Slovak National Party and Most-Híd claimed that they wanted a public, not secret vote. However, the largest governing Smer-SD party is against.
