In 2018, the average Slovak produced 427 kilograms of waste, representing a growth of 100kg in a decade, indicates an analysis by Wood&Company based on data from the Slovak Statistics Office. In the Trnava, Bratislava and Nitra regions, an average citizen produces over half a tonne of waste in 12 months. On the other hand ,the number stands at 330 kg per person in the Košice and Prešov regions. Over the last 10 years, the production of waste has recorded the fastest growth, by 40% in the Nitra and Banská Bystrica regions. According to analyses, Slovakia is lagging behind other EU states with its recycling rate at a level of 38.1%.
