Comenius University starts construction of new research complex

Comenius University has begun building a new scientific complex in Bratislava's Mlynska Dolina area. Apart from senior representatives of the university, the foundation stone-laying ceremony held earlier in the day was attended by Education, Science, Research and Sports Minister Dušan Čaplovič and Head of the Representation of the European Commission in Slovakia Dušan Chrenek.

The construction work will consume almost €42 million, mostly from EU funds. The facility should be built in the immediate vicinity of the university's Science Faculty by the end of June 2015. Comenius University expects the project to increase its competitiveness. University Chancellor Karol Micieta added that the project will bring up-to-date scientific technologies into the education process and enable university professionals and students to intensify their participation in international scientific co-operation.
