Slovak Press Photo winner

Jozef Jabkubčo, photographer with the SME daily, has been named winner of the Slovak Press Photo competition. The international jury awarded him the Grand Prix for his series entitled "The Night with the President". The Dutch member of the jury and two-time World Press Photo winner Kadir van Lohuizen said that this series was unique among the volumes of photos that emerged from election night. "It shows us who Zuzana Čaputová really is," said van Lohuizen, adding that the first Slovak female president is thereby shown to be down-to-Earth. Jozef Jakubčo added that he tries to take photos that are different from what the mass of press photographers are taking pictures of at the same event and at the same moment. "That's why I try to find a different angle," said the winner of the Slovak Press Photo contest.
