Slovak Armed Forces have so far chosen twelve candidates as pilots of F-16 aircraft, according to the Defense Ministry. Its spokesperson Danka Capáková said that this number was also the minimum for carrying out the operation of the planes. Moreover, the ministry plans to recruit 22 pilots altogether. The first six pilots have already started their training and should go to the US for a part of it this autumn.
The Slovak Republic has agreed to buy fourteen F-16 C/D Block 70 American aircraft. The first four should arrive in 2022, the remaining 10 by the end of 2023.
