More than half of Europeans using the internet are buying and booking holidays online, according to the European Statistics Office Eurostat, with this method used most often by Luxembourgers (73 percent), Finns (65 percent) and Germans (64 percent). "In Slovakia, online shopping and booking holidays are mostly used by young people between the ages of 25 and 34. Their number has been increasing in recent years due to increased access to the internet. At present, 51 percent of people in this age category are using this form of purchase," said Slovenska sporitelna analyst Lenka Buchláková. Meanwhile, Slovaks are gradually moving towards the European Union average in a number of respects. Last year, as many as 18 percent of Slovaks used shared accommodation at home or abroad, as compared with the Czech Republic, for example, where only 5 percent of people did so.
